The Eagle's View Warriors will face off against the Stanton Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eagle's View's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four contests, but Thursday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eagle's View lost 11-1 to Ridgeview on Monday.
Eagle's View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Montgomery, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Stanton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Raines on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-2 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hayden Foster made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Stanton is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-9 otherwise. Foster was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jhai Mosley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jose Figueroa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Stanton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .640. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Eagle's View's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Stanton, they moved to 9-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eagle's View has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Stanton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
