North Lincoln gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They really took it to the Lincoln Charter Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-29 victory. The Knights pushed the score to 55-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had no chance of recovering from.
North Lincoln got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ally Smith out in front who went 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. Those eight steals gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Burch, who shot 60% from the field en route to 16 points.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: North Lincoln was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Charter only posted seven.
Loss or not, Lincoln Charter got some senior leadership from Claire David and Martha Guinle. David posted eight points and five boards, while Guinle scored seven points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Camryn David, who earned four points and four blocks.
Coming up, North Lincoln will face off against North Mecklenburg at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln Charter, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mountain Island Charter at 6:00 p.m. on December 3.
