The Timpanogos Timberwolves will face off against the Park City Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Timpanogos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Timpanogos is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Pine View an 18-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Timberwolves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Canyon Clegg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Clegg was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Collin Morgan was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jackson Sotelo was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Timpanogos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine View only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Park City posted their closest win since March 4th on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Cedar. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.
The team relied heavily on Wesley Dewitt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Alex Brannigan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.
Timpanogos' win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Park City, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Timpanogos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Park City struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Timpanogos came out on top in a nail-biter against Park City in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Miners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
