The Hartford Central Tanagers will be home for the holidays to greet the Argyle Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hartford Central has three straight victories, Argyle has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Hartford Central's game was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They pulled ahead with a 42-41 photo finish over Hadley Luzerne. Given Hartford Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Hadley Luzerne is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hartford Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Nadeau out in front who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Raeghan Liebig, who scored no points along with 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Argyle was the victim of a tough 43-17 loss at the hands of Corinth on Friday. Argyle has not had much luck with Corinth recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
