Even though the Mountain View Spartans have not done well against the Burlingame Panthers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mountain View blew past Burlingame 49-21 at home. With Mountain View ahead 35-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Mountain View got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Arturo Hernandez out in front who rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Kevin Conway, who threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
When it comes to explaining why Burlingame lost, one person who can't be blamed is Angelo Medina. Despite the final result, he rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Medina was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Zach Shapiro also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The win makes it two in a row for Mountain View and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Burlingame, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Mountain View will look to defend their home field on Friday against Branham at 7:00 p.m. Branham is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. Burlingame does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
