The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders will head out on the road to square off against the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Clearwater Central Catholic is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
On Thursday, Clearwater Central Catholic didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Northside Christian, but they still walked away with a 32-27 win. Given Clearwater Central Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Northside Christian is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alexis Benoit, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Bedinghaus, who scored seven points.
Sunlake suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Monday. They were beaten by Wesley Chapel 71-40. Sunlake has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Clearwater Central Catholic pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Sunlake, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
