The Beaufort Eagles were the 48-35 winner over the Philip Simmons Iron Horses when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Beaufort took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Philip Simmons. Beaufort has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Beaufort lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Naiim Pope, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Amani Cleckley, who scored 12 points.
Even though they lost, Beaufort were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Philip Simmons only posted seven assists.
Robert Watson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Philip Simmons, scoring 22 points along with four steals. The matchup was Watson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Weston Coggeshall was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Beaufort's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-7. As for Philip Simmons, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Beaufort will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Battery Creek at 7:30 p.m. As for Philip Simmons, they will head out on the road to face off against North Charleston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
