The Berea Pirates have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bluegrass United Bluehawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kentucky (Berea is ranked 122nd, while the Bluehawks are ranked 108th).
Last Thursday, Berea was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-37 to the Indians.
Meanwhile, Bluegrass United waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 37-24 win over Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool.
Bluegrass United's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allie McGuire, who scored 13 points along with five steals. McGuire has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Hanlon, who scored 12 points.
Berea's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Bluegrass United, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-6.
Berea was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bluehawks in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 38-29. Will Berea repeat their success, or do the Bluehawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
