It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Academy of Notre Dame Lancers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Innovation Academy 63-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Innovation Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Horace, who scored 17 points along with 8 steals and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Rogers, who scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
The win got Academy of Notre Dame back to even at 1-1. As for Innovation Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy of Notre Dame will take on Minuteman Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Innovation Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Dracut at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
