Sunnyslope and Shadow Ridge are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Sunnyslope Vikings will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Shadow Ridge Stallions at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Sunnyslope is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They lost 16-6 to Perry on Monday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Sydney Benavidez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Peyton Udall, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Sunnyslope was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, everything went Shadow Ridge's way against Millennium on Monday as Shadow Ridge made off with a 7-1 win.

Jadyn Scott was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordyn Scott, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn Gentner, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Sunnyslope beat Shadow Ridge 5-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Will Sunnyslope repeat their success, or does Shadow Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
