Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Union). Everything went their way against the Houlka Wildcats on Friday as West Union made off with a 19-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mack Wallis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wallis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Benton Burks, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for West Union: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
