Daviess County had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Owensboro Catholic Aces a 10-0 shutout. The Panthers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four games.

Sophia Cain made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annie Newman, who fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one triple while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April. Kylie Clark was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Daviess County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Owensboro Catholic only posted an OBP of .053.

Daviess County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Owensboro Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-14-2.
