Softball Recap: Auburn Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Auburn won the last time they faced Nokomis and things went their way on Monday too. The Trojans never let the Redskins get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Meena Taylor's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 19 Ks. Those 19 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Skylar Meats, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Jenna Arenz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Auburn hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nokomis struck out 19 times.

The victory made it two in a row for Auburn and bumps their season record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Nokomis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Auburn will face off against Riverton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Nokomis, they will take on Central A & M at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redskins will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Raiders will have lost four straight heading into Tuesday's match.
