On Thursday, it was a hard-fought match, but Owen Valley had to settle for a 57-54 loss against North Vermillion. Owen Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Owen Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Derrek Atkinson and Caleb Bixler. Atkinson scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Bixler scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Atkinson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caden Gonser, who scored five points along with six assists.
Owen Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for North Vermillion, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Tri-West Hendricks the next time they take the court. North Vermillion will host Tri-West Hendricks at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, while Owen Valley will host them at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
