The Cumberland County Jets fought the good fight in their overtime game against the White County Warriors on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Warriors. Cumberland County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
White County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Celeste Reed, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Reed has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. Ava Jones was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Cumberland County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for White County, their win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland County will challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Stone Memorial is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for White County, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bees at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Upperman is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
