The First Academy Eagles's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They secured a 26-22 W over Legacy Charter. This was payback for First Academy, who suffered a 49-17 defeat the last time these two teams met.
First Academy was led to victory by Ashlyn Neiford and Molly Beliveau. Neiford scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Beliveau scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Beliveau hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Ashlyn Kraus and Mallory Daniels certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Kraus scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Daniels scored 12 points along with three steals. Daniels is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Legacy Charter struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory got First Academy back to even at 6-6. As for Legacy Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
First Academy on the road again on Saturday and play against St. Edward's at 9:00 a.m. on January 20th. As for Legacy Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lakeside Christian at 9:00 a.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Lakeside Christian is ranked 558th, while Legacy Charter is ranked 550th).
