The Englewood Pirates fell victim to the Kent Denver Sun Devils''s stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 47-0 loss at the hands of the Sun Devils. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, Englewood couldn't push the score so high this time.
Carson Campbell threw for 210 yards while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt. Jayce Prante was his top target, picking up 105 receiving yards. On the ground, Deon Robinson rushed for 37 yards.
Kent Denver was led to victory by Wyatt Walker and Yianni Balafas. Walker gained 170 total yards and three touchdowns, while Balafas threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes. Balafas was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Nicholas Buchenau did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Englewood to a paltry 247 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Kent Denver's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Tripp Skewes and Buchenau who racked up six sacks between them.
Englewood has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Kent Denver, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-1.
Englewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Kent Denver will be playing in front of their home fans against Eaton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eaton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
