Clarksville is 0-6 against Southwestern since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Clarksville Generals will head out on the road to face off against the Southwestern Rebels at 7:30 p.m. Clarksville is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Clarksville pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 78-56 loss at the hands of Austin. While losing is never fun, Clarksville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Austin is ranked 109th).
Despite the loss, Clarksville saw an underclassman step up: Jayonna Shirley dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Tiarra Lewis, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Southwestern pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-60 to Rock Creek Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (58), Southwestern still had to take the loss.
Clarksville's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Southwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Clarksville came up short against Southwestern when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 30-19. Can Clarksville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
