Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Enumclaw recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Jefferson has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Monday, Jefferson came up short against Kentlake and fell 12-8. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ava Robertson and Jordan Lange did some serious damage despite the final result: Robertson went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Lange got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That triple was Robertson's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Mears, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Enumclaw entered their tilt with White River on Monday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitcher stepped up to hand White River a 3-0 shutout.
Not much got past Alyssa Harris, who gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep White River off the board. Harris has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ava Lim was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Enumclaw's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Jefferson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .509. However, it's not like Enumclaw struggles in that department as they've averaged .544. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jefferson might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Enumclaw in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
