Anderson is 0-5 against Mt. Vernon since March of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Anderson Indians will take on the Mt. Vernon Marauders at 6:00 p.m. Anderson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matches -- so hopefully Mt. Vernon likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, it was close, but Anderson sidestepped Fort Wayne Wayne for a 55-52 victory.

Anderson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Damien King, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. King's afternoon made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Warfield, who shot 71% from the field en route to 15 points in addition to five assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Mt. Vernon had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 65-35 win over Richmond. That looming 65-35 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Marauders yet this season.
Anderson better keep an eye on Luke Ertel. He was instrumental in Mt. Vernon's win, going 9-for-13 on his way to 22 points and five boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Ertel has scored at least a third of Mt. Vernon's points. Max Vise was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Mt. Vernon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points over those games. Anderson's victory bumped their record up to 21-2.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Anderson has been crazy accurate this season, having nailed 47.8% of their shots per game. However, it's not like Mt. Vernon struggles in that department as they've nailed 47.3% of their field goals this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Anderson came up short against Mt. Vernon when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 56-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ertel, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Now that Anderson knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
