The Bellevue East Chieftains's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Millard South, falling 78-43. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bellevue East in their matchups with Millard South: they've now lost seven in a row.
Bellevue East's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ammi Williams, who scored 12 points, and TayJon Morton-Swift who scored five points.
Bellevue East struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Leading Millard South to victory were Koby Meyers and Isaac Jensen. Meyers scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Jensen scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jensen has scored all season. Jett Thomalla was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Bellevue East dropped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Millard South, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.
Bellevue East will head out on the road to take on Benson at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Benson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Millard South, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Omaha South at 7:15 p.m. Omaha South has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9.
