Oglethorpe County is 2-7 against Social Circle since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Oglethorpe County Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Social Circle Redskins at 7:30 p.m.
Oglethorpe County fell victim to Prince Avenue Christian's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 49-0 loss at the hands of the Wolverines. While losing is never fun, Oglethorpe County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Prince Avenue Christian is ranked 31st).
Social Circle fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Jasper County 23-21.
Social Circle's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jameccus Hardge, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 37 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Kam Durden, who rushed for 126 yards.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Social Circle, adding 11 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Preston Guy: he added nine points with three field goals, and another two kicking extra points.
Prince Avenue Christian's victory bumped their season record to 7-1 while Oglethorpe County's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
Oglethorpe County was dealt a bruising 48-12 defeat at the hands of Social Circle when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Oglethorpe County, Logan Cross (who threw for 309 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
