The Woodward Academy War Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lovejoy Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodward Academy will be looking to keep their 15-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Woodward Academy put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Alcovy on the road to the tune of 73-22. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-7.
It was another big night for Kameron Herring, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Clarke Falconer, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lovejoy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Mundy's Mill 50-45.
Woodward Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Lovejoy, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Woodward Academy against the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 91-8 win. With Woodward Academy ahead 45-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
