Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Central Golden Eagles vs. Jonesville Comets

The Columbia Central Golden Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Jonesville Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbia Central will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Columbia Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Napoleon with a sharp 13-6 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Conor Rentfrow made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Tyler Ladd was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season. Lukas Calhoun was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Jonesville sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Michigan Center on Monday.

Jonesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper Griffiths, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The win got Jonesville back to even at 2-2. As for Columbia Central, their record is now 3-1.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Columbia Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Jonesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits.
