The Apprentice Academy Red Wolves lost against the Queen's Grant Stallions back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Apprentice Academy was dealt a 101-53 defeat at the hands of Queen's Grant. Apprentice Academy has not had much luck with Queen's Grant recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Red Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Radear Watson, who scored 21 points along with three steals and two blocks. That was a full 39.6% of Apprentice Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Eddington, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Leading Queen's Grant to victory were Kenston Richardson and Garrett Morgan. Richardson scored 30 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Morgan dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten assists. Morgan is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Christian Shamberger was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Apprentice Academy bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Queen's Grant, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apprentice Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Piedmont Community Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Piedmont Community Charter's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests. As for Queen's Grant, they will head out on the road to challenge South Charlotte T at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Charlotte T focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
