Baseball Recap: Beechwood Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Beechwood had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bracken County Polar Bears as they made off with an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brant Stiles tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Tyler Fryman was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Quinton Knasel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Beechwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bracken County only posted an OBP of .261.

Beechwood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bracken County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, Beechwood will head out to square off against Simon Kenton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.1, the Pioneers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bracken County, they will be playing at home against Holmes at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
