This season hasn't been kind to the Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westfield School on Friday. While losing is never fun, Mount de Sales Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while Westfield School is ranked 54th).
Mount de Sales Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laura lillie Sparks, who scored eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Britten Rogers, who scored seven points.
Mount de Sales Academy bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Westfield School, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount de Sales Academy will take on Academy for Classical Education at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. As for Westfield School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Piedmont Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Piedmont Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
