Santa Rosa Christian are taking a road trip to square off against the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Rosa Christian is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for Santa Rosa Christian after they put the first run on the board last Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 21-14 to Atmore Christian. Even if Santa Rosa Christian couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Meanwhile, Aletheia Christian Academy had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past East Hill Christian 15-0 on Tuesday. Considering the Lions have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Summer Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Abigail Finley and Madelyn Carlson did most of the damage at the plate: Finley went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Carlson went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Carlson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Varela, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Aletheia Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Aletheia Christian Academy's record now sits at 6-8. As for Santa Rosa Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
