Basketball Recap: Alhambra Starts Season with Win at Home

Alhambra gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Glendale Cardinals by a score of 46-36. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 54-53 loss the last time these two teams met.

Alhambra can attribute much of their success to Jyhari Watkins, who shot 70% from the field to rack up 18 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ive Uwizera, who posted seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Defeat or not, Glendale got some senior leadership from Simon Sinohui and Adrian Waters. Sinohui went 5-for-12 on his way to 10 points and seven steals, while Waters put up ten points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Alhambra wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 80-26 loss against Independence on the 21st. As for Glendale, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-49 defeat against Lake Havasu on the 21st.
