Baseball Recap: Bangor Victorious

Bangor proved they can win big on Sunday (they won by 16) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders 12-11. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-6 back in March.

Gino Merlo looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bangor is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Bangor got a massive performance out of Dylan Keith, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Keith has become a key player for the Slaters: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-8 otherwise. Jaxson Kreider was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Bangor is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Bangor has already played their next contest, an 11-7 loss against Jim Thorpe on the 29th. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-1 victory against Moravian Academy on the 29th.
