The Lecanto Panthers will be playing at home against the Hernando Leopards at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Lecanto didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Weeki Wachee, but they still walked away with a 40-34 victory. The win was just what Lecanto needed coming off of a 64-42 defeat in their prior contest.
Lecanto's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryleigh Florio, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Florio is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ijyana Edwards, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Hernando can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Citrus 50-30. The win was nothing new for Hernando as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kayla Holloman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points. Ayana Kincade was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Lecanto's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Hernando, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Lecanto have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Hernando, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 threes per game. Given Lecanto's sizeable advantage in that area, Hernando will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lecanto was able to grind out a solid win over Hernando when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 46-33. Will Lecanto repeat their success, or does Hernando have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
