Basketball Recap: Brody Provencher and Grant Iverson Secure Win for Vail Mountain

Vail Mountain won the last time they faced North Park and things went their way on Saturday too. The Vail Mountain Gore Rangers blew past the North Park Wildcats 70-49. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Gore Rangers just coasted through the last quarter.

Vail Mountain was led to victory by Grant Iverson and Brody Provencher. Iverson went 7 for 9 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds, while Provencher went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. That's the most points Iverson has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Charlie Vidal, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Vail Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Park only pulled down nine offensive boards.

North Park's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Reyes, who posted 17 points and three steals. Reyes is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Pittington, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points.

Vail Mountain's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for North Park, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vail Mountain will welcome Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Vail Mountain is facing Clear Creek at the right time seeing as Clear Creek is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for North Park, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the North Park Wildcats face off against the Hayden Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
