One thing working in Grace Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
Even though Ridgeview Christian scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Grace Christian still came out on top. Grace Christian walked away with a 63-56 win over Ridgeview Christian.
Grace Christian relied on the efforts of Davis Reid, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Justin Hain, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Reid hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Cashion, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Roanoke Valley Christian beat Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy 51-45 on Friday.
Roanoke Valley Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Luke Somers, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Logan Gutierrez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Somers has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Chou, who scored six points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Grace Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Grace Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.7 points per game. It's a different story for Roanoke Valley Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 53.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Grace Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Roanoke Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 62-52. Will Grace Christian repeat their success, or does Roanoke Valley Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
