Mountain View and Caldera are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2023, but likely not for long. The Cougars will host Caldera at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Mountain View's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Summit as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Cadence Kennedy was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Paige Aponte was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Caldera didn't have quite enough to beat Ridgeview on Wednesday and fell 10-9. Caldera has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Morgan Voll made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Elie Hall, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Mountain View pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Caldera, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mountain View has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Caldera struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
