Bloomington is 7-1 against Eisenhower since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bruins will head out to square off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Bloomington has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Eisenhower will come in with three straight wins.
Bloomington fell victim to Corona and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 14-0. The shutout was out of character for the Bruins seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.
Bloomington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angela Everardo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Vanessa Chavez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Eisenhower posted their closest victory since April 25, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Rialto 5-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Jenna Vallin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Milani Paige, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Alondra Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Bloomington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Eisenhower, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bloomington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Eisenhower struggles in that department as they've averaged .525. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bloomington beat Eisenhower 8-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
