Baseball Recap: Kaiser King and Lawson Alwan Secure Win for Peoria Notre Dame

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Peoria Notre Dame and Peoria meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Irish's pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 15-0 shutout. The Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jackson Roe looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Peoria Notre Dame is 4-2 when Roe allows one or fewer hits, but 9-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Lawson Alwan and Kaiser King did most of the damage at the plate: Alwan went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while King went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave King a new career-high. Jackson Campbell was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Peoria Notre Dame's record now sits at 13-15. As for Peoria, they are on a 34-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22.

Looking ahead, Peoria Notre Dame is taking a road trip to challenge Limestone at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Peoria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
