Midlothian is 2-7 against Powhatan since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Midlothian Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Powhatan Indians at 7:00 p.m. Midlothian is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Midlothian made easy work of Richmond City School of the Arts and carried off a 38-12 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-0.
Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last match, Powhatan made sure to put some points up on the board against Cosby on Friday. Powhatan slipped by Cosby 33-32.
Matthew Layman and Matt Henderson were among the main playmakers for Powhatan as the former threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns and the latter picked up 157 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Powhatan also got help from Ben Whitver who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped Midlothian to 5-1 and Powhatan to 3-3.
Midlothian strolled past Powhatan in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 30-14. Will Midlothian repeat their success, or does Powhatan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
