Episcopal's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Sawi, who scored 24 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sawi has scored at least a third of Episcopal's points. Princess Akojenu was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
National Cathedral has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Episcopal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
National Cathedral will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Blue Storm at 5:45 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (Mercersburg Academy is ranked tenth in Pennsylvania, while the are ranked 11th in District of Columbia). As for Episcopal, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mighty Hoppers at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
