The Littlestown Thunderbolts will head out on the road to square off against the Delone Catholic Squires at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Littlestown is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Last Wednesday, Littlestown made easy work of Bermudian Springs and carried off an 11-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbolts, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Alexis Stonesifer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Olvera, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sarah Loveless, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Delone Catholic had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against York Catholic on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-8 victory. With that win, the Squires brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Like Littlestown, Delone Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Adyson Hummer. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Hummer has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Emily Goodwin was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Caylee Zortman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Delone Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Littlestown's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Delone Catholic, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-7.
Littlestown couldn't quite get it done against Delone Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Thunderbolts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
