The Purnell Swett Rams were the 77-53 winner over the Lumberton Pirates when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Purnell Swett took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates on Tuesday.
Purnell Swett's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Niyah Locklear, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Alexis Locklear was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Purnell Swett's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Lumberton, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Purnell Swett won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Pine Forest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Friday.
