The Floyd Central Highlanders will face off against the Meade County Green Waves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Floyd Central comes in on seven and Meade County on five.
Floyd Central's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Brownstown Central.
Emmy Miller looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Floyd Central saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nora Koehler, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Floyd Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Meade County sidestepped Christian County for a 2-1 win.
The team relied heavily on Kendall Buchanan, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base.
Floyd Central's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Meade County, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
Both Floyd Central and Meade County just can't seem to miss. The Highlanders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Meade County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Floyd Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Meade County in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Green Waves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
