The South Vermillion Wildcats won the last time they faced the North Vermillion Falcons, and things went their way on Thursday too. South Vermillion breezed by the Falcons at home to the tune of 64-36. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory South Vermillion has managed all season.
South Vermillion got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aden Wallace out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Wallace pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Bush, who scored 15 points along with six steals.
North Vermillion's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Dawson, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryder Mikel, who scored nine points.
The victory makes it two in a row for South Vermillion and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for North Vermillion, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Vermillion will take on the Red Ramblers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
