A well-balanced attack led the Miami Valley Christian Academy Lions over the Lockland Panthers in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Miami Valley Christian Academy blew the Panthers out of the water with a 53-25 final score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Miami Valley Christian Academy had established a 21 point advantage.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylah Smith, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Smith is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Alayah Jefferson was another key contributor, scoring three points along with four steals.
The win got Miami Valley Christian Academy back to even at 10-10. As for Lockland, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miami Valley Christian Academy will square off against the Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lockland is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (New Miami is ranked 780th, while the Panthers are ranked 794th).
