Bracie Jackson spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bailey Trainor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sidney Patton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Crawford County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Paoli on Monday.
Crawford County also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Madison Pitman gave up a run (which was unearned) on seven hits.
At the plate, Sylvia Ferriell and Marley Berg did most of the damage at the plate: Ferriell got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Berg went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brynn Ingle, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Eastern's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Crawford County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-16.
Crawford County's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Eastern has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Crawford County, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Eastern keep running through batters, or will the Wolfpack buck the trend?
Eastern took their win against Crawford County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Musketeers repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
