The Coolidge Bears will head out to take on the Tanque Verde Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coolidge will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Coolidge came out on top against Blue Ridge on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Bears walked away with a 5-2 win over the Yellow Jackets. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Rayge Eby looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Riley Hamilton was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ruben Baca, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Tanque Verde came out on top against Desert Christian on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jace Ridgway made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ridgway was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Payne, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Landon Walker was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Coolidge's record now sits at 6-0. As for Tanque Verde, their record is now 4-1-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Coolidge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tanque Verde struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Coolidge might still be hurting after the 17-3 loss they got from Tanque Verde in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
