Hawkins' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Cumby 10-0. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly ten runs.
Eli Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Hawkins' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

In other pitching news, Brayden Givens looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025.
Back at the plate, Hawkins let Riggin Smith and Hunter Kirklin run wild. Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Kirklin went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Kirklin has become a key player for Hawkins: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Como-Pickton took on Yantis on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Owls.
Sean Carpenter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Carpenter was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Dane Oud and Otto Self did most of the damage at the plate: Oud went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Self went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That double marked the first that Oud has hit this season. Cade Childress was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Como-Pickton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Hawkins now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Como-Pickton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hawkins hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Como-Pickton struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
