It was a good run, but the Brantley Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elba. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brantley in their matchups with Elba: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Brantley saw an underclassman step up: Alex Grimes scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 45.5% of Brantley's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of CoCo Stamps, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Brantley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Elba, they pushed their record up to 22-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Brantley will head out on the road to take on McKenzie at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elba, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Zion Chapel at 5:30 p.m.
