The Woodruff Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boiling Springs. Woodruff was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Boiling Springs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.
Despite the loss, Woodruff saw an underclassman step up: Jordan Robinson scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Burnette, who scored 13 points along with four steals and three blocks.
Sarah Ezell was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with nine rebounds for Boiling Springs. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Ezell has scored at least 25% of Boiling Springs' points. Karina Tsisun was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Woodruff has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Boiling Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodruff will take on Chester at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chester is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Boiling Springs, they will be playing at home against J.L. Mann at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. J.L. Mann will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
