The Dupo Tigers have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 42-31 victory over New Athens on Thursday. For Dupo, this counts as revenge for the 30-28 loss the Yellow Jackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dupo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keara Prater, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Prater has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Addison Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Mallory Kohnen and Ella Bohn certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Kohnen scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Bohn scored four points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Dupo's win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for New Athens, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dupo will square off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for New Athens, they will head out on the road to face off against the Musketeers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Red Bud will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
