It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Acalanes Dons had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cougars 49-14 at home. Considering Acalanes has won nine contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Acalanes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sully Bailey, who rushed for 33 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 204 yards and a touchdown on only 13 passes. Jack Miller was another key contributor, rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Loss or not, Escalon got some senior leadership from Joshua Graham who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown and Nate Krieger who gained 74 total yards and a touchdown.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Acalanes, bringing their record for this year to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points per game. As for Escalon, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.
Acalanes will face off against Birmingham at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Birmingham: 12.6, Acalanes: 14.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Escalon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
